GOD’S WORD Translation

⁹ David lived in the fortress and called it the City of David. He built the city ⌞of Jerusalem⌟ around it from the Millo ^[a] to the palace. ¹⁰ David continued to grow more powerful because the Lord God ^[b] of Armies was with him.

¹¹ Then King Hiram of Tyre sent messengers to David, along with cedarwood, carpenters, and stonemasons. They built a palace for David.
